Welcome to my new blog post series “A Therapist recommends...”. In these brief posts I’m sharing things that I have read, tried and found helpful in the hope that you might find them helpful too or at the very least find something that resonates with you ❤️

Please note that I am not affiliated with any of the artists, writers or creators and do not get anything for recommending them or their creations.

I’m simply sharing them because I have found them helpful or inspiring or soothing and my hope is that you too will find something in these pages that might resonate or help you in some way. 🌿❤️🌿

My first recommendation is:

“The Happiness Year- How to find Joy in every season” by Tara Ward, illustrated by Anastasia Stefurak.

The Happiness Year by Tara Ward

This is a beautiful book that you can dip in and out of the whole year. It has a chapter for every season (spring, summer, autumn and winter) and is filled with ideas, thoughts and reflections of what the season entails, might make us feel and what might bring us joy. The author also suggests gentle exercises to try, for example mediations or breathing exercises, cooking seasonal food or doing a mindful activity.

What I really like about this book is that there is no pressure and the author emphasises that she is giving suggestions but that it is important to go at your own pace and do what feels right for you. In other words, try what resonates or feels right and feel free to leave the rest.

I also like that there are bits of poetry, affirmations and quotes, giving another perspective and perhaps making us feel less alone ❤️

The book is beautifully illustrated and even just looking at the pictures for a few minutes can feel soothing.

To book yours, get in touch- a warm welcome awaits you and I look forward to hearing from you 😊
