Welcome to another blog post of “A Therapist recommends…”, my new blog post series in which I’m sharing books and all sorts of things that I have read, tried and found helpful or that resonated with me in some way. My hope is that you might find these helpful too and find something that gives you a little bit of comfort or makes you feel less alone.
A Therapist recommends… “The Joy of Wintering - How to rest, reconnect and rejuvenate with creativity and conscious living” by Erin Niimi Longhurst.

This is a lovely book taking you through the winter season. The author talks about the things we see, hear, touch and taste during winter, sharing personal reflections and her own journey through burnout and turbulent life events.
Each chapter also has suggestions for mindful and creative activities such as flower pressing, journaling prompts and infusing your own teas as well as many others.
What I really like about this book, as well as the suggestions for activities, is that its pages are filled with stunning pictures and comforting quotes. It feels soothing to dip in and out of the book and read a chapter here or there, whichever one feels the most relevant for you in the moment.
The author also shares interesting facts, for example what happens to bees in winter and how you can support your houseplants during the colder months (if you have any), so you are learning things too along the way.

This book is a lovely companion throughout the colder and grey days of winter, reminding us that it is okay to slow down and offering guidance on what might help us to navigate this season ❤️
If you would like help and support to navigate the winter season, I offer a free, 20 minutes introductory call in which you can ask any questions you might have about therapy and we can decide if I'm the right therapist for you.
To book yours, please get in touch - a warm welcome awaits you 😊
